Just a week ago, my life took an incredible turn. I became a dad. Suddenly, my world is full of love I didn’t know existed and responsibilities that thrill and daunt me in equal measure. Here’s what I’ve discovered:
- Embrace the new routine: My days are now filled with feedings, changing nappies, and trying to catch some sleep. Yet, there’s this deep sense of purpose that keeps me going. It’s all for my little one.
- Focus sharpened in business: Being a dad has given me a new perspective. Every decision matters more because it’s not just about me anymore. It’s about building a legacy.
- Simple steps to being a great dad:
-
- Celebrate Weekly: Celebrate your child’s new milestones every week. A simple photo can capture these moments.
- Be Kind to Yourself: You’re learning. Mistakes happen. They’re just steps in your journey.
- Share the Load: Work with your partner. Share duties and experiences. It makes your bond stronger.
- Capture Moments: Write down your thoughts and feelings. Someday, these words will mean the world to your child.
- Stay Present: Take moments to be with your child during the chaos. These moments are precious.
- Learn from Others: Talk to other dads. Their experiences can be invaluable.
- Keep the Spark Alive: Plan a date night. Keeping your relationship strong is crucial for your new family.
Looking back at this first week, I’m amazed at how much I’ve learned and grown. The journey ahead is long, but I know I’m ready for it.
I have a question for you: What’s one small tradition you’d like to start this week with your family? Your journey is unique, and I’d love to hear about it.
Best,
Rodrigo Branco Matsumoto.
