Hey there! It’s good to see you here ;)

I recently embarked on a project that felt like unearthing a treasured tale, and I’m eager to share this journey with you. Each project presents a fresh chapter, and the USS Canberra (LCS-30), an Austal-built Littoral Combat Ship, was an especially captivating one.

A Collaborative Journey with Austal Ships

When Austal Ships approached me, their vision was clear: capture moments that resonate and inspire. Renowned for its innovative shipbuilding, the LCS-30’s arrival held significance. It was not just one among the 19 Littoral Combat Ships built for the US Navy. Still, it uniquely marked the only US Navy ship commissioned outside the United States. This moment symbolised the robust bond between the USA and Australia.

Navigating Challenges

Capturing this event was no ordinary feat. Picture coordinating amidst the dynamic airspace of Sydney, with helicopters and planes setting their courses. The meticulous planning required engaging with numerous entities, from local law enforcement to the Australian Navy.

Thankfully, I wasn’t alone. With aerial support from a helicopter and a dedicated boat crew ensuring optimal drone operations, we have approached for success. My longstanding relationship with Austal Ships was instrumental during this endeavour.

Achievements in Focus

The culmination? A promotional video and photographs that found their way into a prominent Australian newspaper. What thrilled me further was sharing parts of the project with media outlets on the same day. The positive reception from Austal Ships reinforced the dedication and quality I always strive to bring to my projects.

Behind the Creative Process

A standout moment during this project was the detailed team briefing, where every aspect was dissected and strategised. This encapsulates the Sky Perth ethos: profound understanding, comprehensive preparation, and harmonised execution.

Reflections

A resounding lesson from this project emphasised the importance of preparation. It isn’t just about capturing a moment; it’s about ensuring everything aligns seamlessly.

At Sky Perth, I genuinely believe in the transformative power of visual storytelling. The USS Canberra project is a testament to the remarkable narratives that emerge when equipped with the right team, tools, and determination.
